All of our passionate and dedicated teachers meet the highest international standards with formal qualifications and extensive experience in teaching English to beginners.

Our minimum requirements for teachers are:

  • education to degree level or equivalent qualification
  • a certificate level qualification in teaching English as a foreign language such as Cambridge University CELTA or Trinity College London CertTESOL
  • at least two years’ teaching experience
  • high proficiency in the use of the English language.

Edward Gorton

Senior Teacher

Edward is a well-qualified and widely experienced teacher of English. He has worked extensively with students and clients of various nationalities, age groups, and English proficiency levels. He has worked in a number of corporate and university settings, including; pharmaceutical company executives in Madrid, Spain, intensive total immersion English courses for executives and professionals in Spain, as well as preparing classes of twenty Barcelona students for the TOEFL examination.

Academic Programme Manager

 I oversee all the academic side of the teaching centre. This is a very challenging yet, ultimately, most rewarding role. I love working in Dar, having arrived here in March from Indonesia where I was the Academic Manager of a British Council centre. I qualified as a teacher with a TESOL certificate in 2000. Since then I have gained many more qualifications; a CELTA YL, DELTA, a post graduate Diploma in Academic Management and an MA TESOL.I am also a KET, PET and IELTS examiner.

Oliver Kiondo

Senior Teacher

I started teaching English in Cairo, Egypt in 1987. I went on to get my CELTA there in 1989, and I have been working as a Teacher of English and a Professional Skills Trainer since then. In the course of my career I have taught both General English (at all levels) and Professional Development courses at British Council Egypt, and British Council Tanzania.


Through the years, I have gained vast experience working with adults as well as Young Learners.
